Aaliyah wakes up each morning determined to be the best version of herself. She is currently enrolled in the University of Connecticut’s honors and accelerated law programs, pursuing a double major in Political Science/Law and Urban Development. She hopes to use this path as a means to perfect the knowledge and skills necessary to engage with community leaders and spark lasting, positive change in communities of color. Her goal is to empower marginalized communities through access to education, and leave a legacy that inspires women to dream bigger and achieve more.
Aaliyah is a recipient of the UConn Jamaican Heritage Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Community Involvement, a Resident Assistant, member of the Women in Minorities in Economics council, and Counselor in Training at the Master Guide Program, where she is further cultivating her leadership skills while training to counselor children ages 10-16. She is also the Secretary and Social Media Coordinator of the Mt. Zion SDA Church in Hamden, CT. She is a former member and Executive Board Treasurer of the SHAdes of Sacred Heart Academy Diversity Club and former intern at the Student Public Interest Research Group in Boston.
