Asenette is currently a student at Brown University pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering. Raised in Houston, TX, Asenette developed a passion for empowering others, particularly underrepresented groups, in pursuing their goals. As a first-generation student, she recognizes the immense value of support and hopes to create opportunities for others to reach their potential.
Asenette pursues her passions and interests off campus by participating in events such as MakeHarvard where her team won the sustainability award by designing a low-cost water desalinator for communities facing water scarcity. She also works with MIT’s OEOP as an Online Facilitator in the MOSTEC program in the hopes of inspiring and supporting minorities in STEM.
Asenette pursues her interests on campus by participating in organizations such as SHPE (Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers), SWE (Society of Women Engineers), and BRYTE (Brown Refugee Youth Tutoring and Enrichment).
We are pleased to award Asenette with a $1,000 scholarship for the 2020-2021 academic year.
