Christina is on a mission to empower future generations of women by sharing her story, inspiring others, and showing that with hard work and perseverance, no goal is out of reach! When Christina became a young, homeless mother, plenty of people counted her out. She knew she wanted more for her children than she had, and was determined to make that dream a reality. Christina began studying Special and Elementary Education at the University of Maine, juggling teaching full-time and studying with raising two children. She never gave up, and worked her way through the University of New England’s M.S. in Educational Leadership program.
Christina was named the 2015 RSU 40 Administrator of the Year and has served as a Special Education Teacher, Assistant Principal, and Principal of two schools. Currently, she is the RSU Assistant Superintendent and Adjunct Instructor at Eastern Maine Community College. She actively volunteers for autism awareness presentations in classrooms, and is a Girl Scout Leader and Destination Imagination Team Leader. As a mother, she enjoys teaching her children to take opportunities to help others.
She is now pursuing a Doctorate in Education at the University of New England in order to become a full-time university professor, a role that will allow her to help others lead with kindness, passion and understanding.
Congratulations, Christina! We are proud to award you a $1,000 scholarship to complete this program!
