2021 Women's Empowerment Scholarship Recipient
Giulia Carino
As a proud member of the only all-girls baseball league in the country, Giulia has never let fear of gender norms get in her way. She has played in numerous MLB Youth series, including the 2016 MLB All-Star Youth Classic, where she was invited to be a member of the first all-girls team to play in a series. In addition to rigorous academics and clubs, Giulia is also an alumna of the field hockey team, recipient of the La Salle Academy Presidential Scholarship, participant in the Yale University Economics for Leaders Program, and a 2020 Yale Young Global Scholar.
Giulia’s love of science, determination to continue making strides in male-dominated arenas, and passion for animals and veterinary science have motivated her to study ecology and biology at Boston College. She ultimately hopes to become a scientist, and is excited to rally together with other women in STEM to fight for equal representation in the sciences and spark positive change for all. Congratulations, Giulia!
